Continuous innovation to accelerate the electrification of the future

For more than 70 years, our Center of Excellence has been in Hanover, Germany. In 2024, our Group opened a brand-new facility with new capabilities to support our growth.
A symbol of our ambition to become a pure player in the electricity industry, our Hanover site brings approximately 70 experts (engineers, researchers and technicians) together to work on the electrical technology of the future. The new site has a footprint of 12000 m² and work around the clock for engineering and manufacturing Welding Machines, Cryogenics transfer lines and Superconducting cables.
Innovation, a priority
Hanover Center of Excellence includes in-house engineering and manufacturing of the most advanced technologies when it comes to the energy transition.
- Our Welding Machines serve the HVAC and HVDC Subsea cables, connecting offshore wind farms to the land for exporting the electricity generated by the wind turbines.
- Our Cryogenics joint-free transfer lines enable the safe and reliable transfer of cryogenics fluids such as the LN2 and LH2.
- Our Superconducting cables guarantees an efficient transfer of high power with minimal electrical losses and footprint.
With this combined expertise and our pioneering spirit, we are focused on the future of sustainability and electrification.
Together we are shaping the future of energy transmission and setting new standards for innovation and sustainability.
Thanks to the knowledge and understanding of its employees and its global innovation network, Hanover Center of Excellence will research solutions to increase energy output, improve the reliability, resilience and security of the grid, accelerate installation projects, and guarantee competitiveness and access to electricity by developing interconnections between countries, for example. All these innovations are focused on reducing the impact on the environment, notably through the use of new materials, more efficient technologies reducing CO2 emissions for our customers.

Main applications covered by UniWEMA® solutions
Our expertise extends across diverse sectors.
Our UniWEMA® Machines Business Line includes a world leading know-how in forming and welding in various market sectors such as Power and Optical cables, HVAC and healthcare: our forming and welding solutions enable the production of tubes and tailor-made products in a diameter range between 2 and 300 mm.
Our technology and solutions are a core element in our customers industrial manufacturing processes for the electrification and digitization, heating and cooling of medical supply sectors, to name a few.

UniWEMA® machines support the transition to sustainable energy by enhancing HVAC and heat pump technology. The MicroWEMA® product line enables the production of stainless-steel corrugated tubes, improving the efficiency of HVAC and heat pump systems. By harnessing renewable heat sources, these innovations help reduce carbon emissions, lower energy costs, and deliver efficient heating and cooling solutions for a greener future.
Cryogenics unlocks groundbreaking possibilities by harnessing ultra-low temperatures. UniWEMA® machines manufacture cryogenic pipes used in applications ranging from medical advancements to space exploration, enabling enhanced preservation, superconductivity, and cutting-edge research. Our flexible, joint-free cryogenic transfer lines (Cryoflex and Highflex) support the development of LH2 infrastructure, contributing to the reduction of oil-based energy consumption.

UniWEMA® machines play a crucial role in advancing sustainable energy by supporting the development of the offshore wind industry. Our world-class processes ensure the high reliability and mechanical strength of HVDC subsea cables, which are laid on the seabed to transport energy from offshore wind turbines to land. The DeciWEMA® product line enables the production of high-quality copper tubes, which are integrated into HVDC subsea cables, enhancing their reliability and performance in energy transmission.
UniWEMA® machines manufacture the cryostats for High-Temperature Superconducting (HTS) cables, unlocking unparalleled energy efficiency and powering the future of electrification. With minimal energy loss and exceptional conductivity, HTS technology is revolutionizing energy transmission and distribution for a more sustainable world. Our machines ensure the high reliability of cryostats, a critical component that enables HTS cables to operate at -200°C while continuously delivering the required electrical power.

Our certifications
Our solutions are compliant with the following certifications
-
Our laser products are laser class 1 certified.
No separate rooms, fences or other safety precautions are necessary to operate our laser welding machines. The laser is fully enclosed by a housing while in operation. -
ISO 9001 - International standard for quality management systems
-
Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC : directive laying down health and safety requirements for the design and construction of machinery, placed on the European market
# Welding technology
With more than 70 years' experience, we combine a wide range of magnetic and non-magnetic metals, noble metals such as platinum, alloys and surfaces - whether coated or highly reflective. We offer a full range of welding capabilities, from longitudinal and transverse techniques to circular welding, facilitated by robotic integration.
# Laser technology
We are the first to implement a green laser welding unit into a continuous welding process. Up to 50 % more energy is absorbed by copper in the green wave length spectrum compared to the infrared spectrum. We utilize this advantage to produce much smaller tubes with reduced wall thicknesses, still achieving the high seam quality that our customers have been used to from laser welding before.
